Cheerleading safety

Cheerleading is an athletic sport with a real risk of injury. Only practice tumbling, stunts and other skills under the supervision of trained, qualified coaches, with proper spotting and matting. Progress step by step, never try skills at home or unsupervised, and check with a doctor before starting. Before choosing a gym or program, parents and guardians should visit, meet the coaches, and ask about safety credentials, background checks and insurance. Read more
